Angel Reese Trademarks 'Mebounds' in Response to Trolling from WNBA Fans
Angel Reese has turned the trolls into potential profit.
The Chicago Sky forward has sought to trademark the phrase "Mebounds," which was originally coined to mock Reese rebounding her own missed shots but has since been happily co-opted by the star.
"Whoever came up with the 'mebounds' thing, y'all ate because 'mebounds', rebounds, crebounds... anything that comes off that board, it's mine," she said in her TikTok video. "And a brand? That's six figures right there. The trolling, I love when y'all do it because, like, the ideas be good. Like, when y'all have to alter my face and s--t because I'm cute, alright, whatever. That doesn't get me. But when y'all came up with 'mebounds'—because statistically, all the rebounds that I get aren't always just mine. They're, like, the defenses, too, or somebody else on my team—but, when y'all came up with 'mebounds,' y'all ate."
While Reese's offensive game remains a work in progress at the WNBA level—she's averaging 10.4 points per game this season on 35.7 percent shooting from the field—she's undoubtedly a force on the boards. Through 44 career games, Reese is averaging 12.8 rebounds per game and has 32 double-doubles.
She also posted her first career triple-double on Sunday, posting 11 points, 13 boards and 11 assists in a 78-66 win over the Connecticut Sun.
The Sky remain a work in progress themselves at 3-7. Reese remains one of the faces of their rebuild, however, "mebounds" and all.
