Jake Paul Says He's 'Greatest Thing to Happen to Boxing Since Muhammad Ali' in Video

Ahead of his return to the ring later this month against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Jake Paul made a bold declaration about his impact on the sport of boxing.

During an interview with DAZN, Paul was asked what it means to him to protect boxing, and he compared himself to one of the biggest legends ever to lace up a pair of gloves.

"For me, I feel like I'm the only one doing it. Everyone else is just trying to gatekeep or say that they're doing things for the sport or something is bad for boxing, but I'm the greatest thing to happen to boxing since Muhammad Ali," Paul said. "There's no even debating that. What I've done speaks for itself."

Paul touted his charity work and his influence in improving the pay scale in women's boxing as some of the examples of his impact.

The 28-year-old has ushered in a new era of influencer boxing where spectacle oftentimes outweighs skill. Still, it's hard to argue that he isn't a major figure in the sport. His most recent fight against legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson in November was the first combat sports event ever to be streamed live on Netflix, and it set multiple viewership records.

Paul will face Chavez on June 28 in Anaheim. A win could get him closer to achieving his goal of earning a title shot.
