The Racers added two late runs in the eight to pull within two. However, Easton Hawk was able to shut the door and secure the victory.
LSU 4, Arkansas 1
The No. 6 seed LSU Tigers defeated the No. 3 seed Arkansas Razorbacks 4-1 thanks largely second-inning small ball and Kade Anderson's great pitching performance.
LSU scored three runs in the second.
With one out, the Tigers loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a bunt single. Chris Stanfield then added an RBI single for a 1-0 lead before Michael Braswell III was hit by a pitch, scoring Derek Curiel for a 2-0 edge.
Josh Pearson's fielder's choice groundout made it 3-0. After that run, Gabe Gaeckle came on in relief of starting pitcher Zach Root.
Meanwhile, Anderson dominated for LSU, shutting out Arkansas through the first five innings while allowing just three baserunners. However, the Razorbacks got on the board in the sixth when Reese Robinett led off the frame with a solo shot.
LSU went back up three in the eighth inning, however, when Curiel's RBI single knocked home Steven Milam, who doubled with one out.
Arkansas got one baserunner on in the eighth and ninth innings but couldn't get the tying run to the plate.
Anderson finished the night by striking out seven over seven innings, allowing just three hits, two walks and one earned run. Chase Shores earned the hold, and Casan Evans got his seventh save of the year.
With the win, LSU advanced to play UCLA on Monday.
