Mike ChiariJun 14, 2025

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark returned from a five-game absence on Saturday, and she wasted little time in making her presence felt.

Playing in her first game since May 24, Clark hit three-pointers on three consecutive possessions over the course of 38 seconds during the first quarter of Indiana's home clash with the New York Liberty:

Clark ended the first quarter with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and showed no ill effects from the quad strain that landed her on the shelf:

The Fever trailed 26-24 after the first quarter of Saturday's contest with Clark accounting for over half of Indiana's points in the opening frame.

Clark, who was the WNBA Rookie of the Year and finished fourth in WNBA MVP voting last season, was averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 block per game in four contests this season before getting injured.

The Fever put forth some up-and-down performances while Clark was out, going 2-3 to give them a 4-5 record overall.

Prior to Clark's arrival last season, the Fever had not reached the playoffs or finished with a .500 or better record since 2016, but the former University of Iowa standout helped turn things around quickly.

With Clark leading the way, Indiana went 20-20, which marked a seven-game improvement from 2023. The Fever also made the playoffs, falling 2-0 to the Connecticut Sun in the first round.

The Fever added veterans Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner to the roster during the offseason in hopes of taking another step forward and potentially contending for a WNBA championship.

With Clark healthy and playing at an elite level once again, that goal could potentially become a reality.
