Dak Prescott 'Super Excited' for Trip with Cowboys' Skill Players After Pickens Trade

Jack MurrayJun 13, 2025

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is looking forward to building chemistry with his skill position teammates.

Following the end of the team's mandatory minicamp, Prescott expressed his excitement about taking his annual trip with some of the key contributors of the offense later in June, especially newly-acquired wide receiver George Pickens.

“You can catch passes, but you want them catching them from you, catching them from the quarterbacks,” Prescott said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “And then there’s that camaraderie. Getting those guys together, getting George (Pickens) here in the last couple months. (We) know him, we’re growing. But just getting to know him better, deeper. Getting to know all the guys, especially with a new receiver’s coach, right? These guys are coming in trying to change little things and little nuances. That just gives them another time to work together, so (I’m) super excited about the trip.”

The Cowboys acquired Pickens and a 2026 sixth-round pick in May from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. He had 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns for the Steelers in 2024. He was the team's clear top receiver but will now slot in behind CeeDee Lamb in the Cowboy's receiver room and provide a major boost to the receiving depth in Dallas.

The Cowboys went 7-10 in 2024 and missed the postseason for the first time since 2020. Prescott was limited to just eight games after suffering a hamstring injury. He threw for 1,978 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions before going on the shelf.

Despite Prescott's injury, Lamb still managed to total 101 receptions for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns. Adding Pickens to the mix should only make Lamb's life easier as he moves all over the formation and poses problems to opposing defenses.

As the team looks for this breakthrough, Prescott will hope his annual trip will help build a winning chemistry among the skill position players.
