Projecting the WWE WrestleMania 42 Match Card in Las Vegas Including Cody vs. CM Punk
Now that WrestleMania 42 has a location, we're already wondering what WWE could have up its sleeve for next year's card.
In February, The Rock initially revealed the two-night premium live event would take place at Caesars Superdome on Apr. 11-12, 2026. However, WWE switched gears in May and abruptly cancelled its plans to head to New Orleans.
This sparked speculation on the destination for The Show of Shows, but Las Vegas ultimately emerged as the front-runner. The move breaks a tradition as the iconic PLE hasn’t landed in the same city for two consecutive years since 1989.
Nevertheless, Triple H officially announced Allegiant Stadium would be the venue again during Money in the Bank. Now, his creative regime has about 10 months to wrap up the biggest storyline of 2025 and start the road to the company's biggest show of the year.
Here are five early predictions for some of the most anticipated matches at WrestleMania 42.
WWE World Tag Team Championship: The Lucha Bros vs. The Usos
1 of 5It’s only a matter of time before Penta and Rey Fenix join forces again, and another pair of siblings would make for perfect opponents in Vegas next year.
The Lucha Bros were one of the best tag teams in the world during their run with AAA and All Elite Wrestling, and The Usos dominated the tag divisions in 2022. As such, their WrestleMania debut as a duo should be against Jey and Jimmy Uso.
Main Event Jey could still have more success as a single competitor, but The New Day's heel turn also gives him and Jimmy Uso a ready-made feud later this year.
The Usos should unseat Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods and become tag team champions together for the first time since their 2023 split.
This entry isn't as logical as others on this list, but this match belongs on the biggest stage possible. These two teams could create an instant classic in Allegiant Stadium.
WWE Women's Championship: Bianca Belair vs. Jade Cargill
2 of 5
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair are still dealing with the aftermath of Naomi's shocking betrayal, but their inevitable showdown has to be the endgame to this storyline.
This has been a dream match since their staredown in the 2024 women's Royal Rumble match. That moment led fans to believe their eventual tag team would create a rift between them and end acrimoniously.
In fact, many viewers believed Belair attacked her former partner before Naomi confessed that she did it during the March 7 episode of SmackDown. Ms. Money in the Bank will likely use the briefcase to defeat Tiffany Stratton, but it would be poetic if The EST of WWE ended her reign.
Cargill is also our pick to win the Queen of the Ring tournament this year, giving Naomi the chance to play spoiler at SummerSlam. Pursuit of the women’s championship will probably ignite a feud with Belair by next spring.
Roman Reigns vs The Rock
3 of 5
Next year feels like WrestleMania or bust for The Rock vs. Roman Reigns.
The generational match has been rumored for at least seven years. The timeline of reports and innuendos has taken so many twists and turns, but the fans still want it. However, the window for the contest is closing.
We don't know how much longer Reigns plans to wrestle full-time, and The Rock's busy schedule has hindered plans in previous years. It nearly materialized in 2024 when The Great One emerged to claim Cody Rhodes' shot at The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40.
However, the subsequent outrage forced WWE to pivot and allow the second-generation star to finish his story. In response, The Rock produced some of his best work in recent memory as The Final Boss and added depth to a potential feud with Reigns.
The Great One didn't factor into plans for the two-night event this year, but one would have to imagine there will be a substantial push to deliver this match in 2026.
World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins vs. Sami Zayn
4 of 5
Seth Rollins is the latest obstacle blocking Sami Zayn's dream of becoming a world champion.
While the 40-year-old is our pick to win the King of the Ring tournament, WWE should let this rivalry play out until WrestleMania 42. The events in Saudi Arabia are still a touchy subject, but the company has the chance to use them to advance this storyline.
Zayn has been so popular at those shows that he will receive a thunderous reaction at Night of Champions on June 28, setting up a match against Gunther at SummerSlam. This would make Rollins' potential cash-in to steal his moment even more heartbreaking.
Conversely, it would make Zayn the favorite to return to Riyadh and win the 2026 men's Royal Rumble match to avenge his loss on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
It would be a full-circle moment for him to defeat a man corrupted by power, leading a stable that mirrors The Bloodline.
Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk
5 of 5WWE has been setting the stage for this one-on-one match since CM Punk returned to the company.
He and Cody Rhodes have such great chemistry in most of their in-ring segments. Their back-and-forth during the Raw before Royal Rumble 2024 proved they could masterfully promo a marquee matchup.
At the event, The American Nightmare eliminated Punk to secure his second consecutive Rumble win and go on to face Reigns at WrestleMania 40. The two came face-to-face again ahead of this year's event as The Second City Saint warned him that he would come for him after his first main event appearance.
In the end, Logan Paul cost him a chance to win the men’s Royal Rumble match for the first time in his career and delayed this high-profile contest again.
It's safe to assume Rhodes will eventually dethrone John Cena, and Punk will wrap up his unfinished business with Rollins by the end of the year.
That would pave the way for Rhodes and Punk to headline The Show of Shows in 2026.
