Jets' Breece Hall Says He Has to 'Prove' He's Worthy of Being 3-Down RB in 2025
Breece Hall says he is ready to "prove" he is the best running back on the New York Jets roster ahead of Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis' second seasons in the NFL.
"I'm not obligated anything. I've got to go and prove that I am the guy," Hall said Wednesday, per Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano. "I feel like I am a 3-down back. Every day I'm going to prove I'm the best back on this roster and one of the best backs in the league."
Hall led his team with 209 carries for 876 yards and five touchdowns as he periodically saw his usage dip while dealing with a knee injury last esason.

Hall told reporters the injury he played through was "pretty serious" but that he feels great now, per Antwan V. Stanley of the New York Daily News.
"It's always frustrating, as a team or individual, when you're not winning games or playing as well as you expect," Hall said about his 2024 campaign. "And then after that, after the season, somebody to blame, or somebody that the blame gets put on, and a lot of it just so happened to be on me.
"So it was like, okay, just get back to the drawing board, just get back to working hard. I know what I have to do with the potential I have, but potential only goes so far. I wanna be a product. I wanna be able to say that I've done everything that I've wanted to do."
Prior to joining the Jets as a first-year NFL head coach, Aaron Glenn spent the last four seasons working with the Detroit Lions defense.
There, he saw the Lions consistently rank among the top rushing teams in the NFL thanks to a running back duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.
When speaking to reporters during the NFL's annual meetings in April, Glenn seemed to indicate he wanted the Jets running backs to similarly split touches during his first season in New York.
“Well, when we have good players at that position like we do it can be a 1-2-3 with the guys we have,” Glenn said, per The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt. “Those guys are good players and we’re going to utilize those guys. If we can get them all on the field if we can at one time, we’ll do that. We want to be a violent, tough, physical team and those men are really violent runners and we’ll take advantage of that.”
Glenn continued, per Rosenblatt: “I think mentally (Hall is) in a good place. We have three running backs on this team that we’re going to utilize as much as possible. They’re all big men. They can run. They’re violent. They’re physical.
"Once we get the players in and see how they operate, I think every player is going to be happy with how they go about this offense and he’ll be one of them.”
After a relatively down season in 2024, it sounds like Hall still wants to be the go-to run option on third downs even as Allen and Davis potentially see their roles increase next season.
