Brian Thomas Jr. 'Fine' After Injury Scare at Jaguars Minicamp, HC Liam Coen Says

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. left the field during Wednesday's minicamp practice after a hard fall, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco.

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen told reporters after practice that Thomas had only been bruised "a little bit" by the fall.

The incident occurred when cornerback Tyson Campbell broke up a pass, per DiRocco. Thomas was then looked at by trainers on the ground before walking off the field under his own power, per WJXT4's Jamal St. Cyr and Generation Jaguar's Jordan Lugo.

Thomas later returned from the indoor facilities with trainers, prompting a cheer from Jaguars fans in attendance at practice, according to St. Cyr. DiRocco then reported that Thomas returned to the sideline with his helmet.

Coen said after practice that the decision to keep Thomas on the sideline after the fall had been "just precautionary."

"He's fine. Absolutely could have gone out and played. Just bruised it a little bit. Great range of motion, strength, he's all good," Coen said.

Coen added that Thomas had been "completely cleared to play."

Earlier in the practice, the Jaguars had shared footage of Thomas running routes ahead of his second NFL season.

Thomas, a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, took on an increasingly large role in the Jags' offense last season on his way to a fourth-place finish in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

He ended the season with 1,282 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns, both of which stand as Jaguars rookie records.

Building on the connection between Thomas and Trevor Lawrence, who says he expects to be fully recovered from December shoulder surgery in time for the start of the regular season, will be key to the Jaguars' hopes of improving from last season's 4-13 record.

Lawrence, who arrived at Tuesday's minicamp opening with a sleeve on his throwing arm, was active during 11-on-11 drills on Wednesday, according to St. Cyr.

The Jaguars wrap up mandatory minicamp on Thursday. The team will return for training camp in mid-July.
