Davante Adams Says There's No 'Dark Cloud' over Rams Building Like with Jets, Raiders

Joseph ZuckerJun 10, 2025

Veteran wide receiver Davante Adams sees a marked contrast between the atmosphere with his current team and some of his previous stops.

"Everybody's in a good mood. It's not like a dark cloud over the building," he told reporters Tuesday. "And I've experienced that quite a bit over the last few years. So, it's a glaring difference when you come into a building like this."

Even going back to the end of his tenure with the Green Bay Packers, Adams has watched quite a bit of drama unfold away from the field.

The Packers won 13 games in each of his last three years there, but Aaron Rodgers' future and his relationship with head coach Matt LaFleur were regular sources of speculation.

Then Adams landed with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he watched head coach Josh McDaniels get hired and fired within two years. The three-time All-Pro didn't go out of his way to disparage McDaniels, but it was easy to read between the lines when he talked about the coaching change at the time.

Then came Adams' midseason trade to the New York Jets, who were on their way to a 5-12 record in 2024. Whatever joy he gained from his reunion with Rodgers was spoiled by everything that happened behind the scenes within the organization.

In an April interview with The Athletic's Michael Silver, the 32-year-old made a lighthearted reference to all of the mess he witnessed in recent seasons.

“Well, first I've got to make sure it's not me,” he said about why he chose the Rams. "So, we're going to get over there and see. If it gets dysfunctional, it means that I was the one making those organizations dysfunctional."

Los Angeles has stability with its head coach (Sean McVay) and general manager (Les Snead), the team has been consistently competitive since McVay arrived in 2017, and starting quarterback Matthew Stafford stuck around.

It's not hard to see why the Rams were an alluring option for Adams.
