After his highlight-reel catch in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, Athletics center fielder Denzel Clarke received high praise from one of the best players ever to play his position.

Former MLB star Torii Hunter took to social media and declared Clarke's spectacular play "one of the best catches I've ever seen."

Hunter won nine consecutive Gold Glove Awards for his work in center field from 2001 to 2009, so he's no stranger to amazing catches. Clarke has only played 16 MLB games, but he already appears to be well on his way to being considered one of the best defensive center fielders in the majors.

Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel launched a deep shot in the first inning, but Clarke scaled the wall and made a full extension as he reached over the wall to rob him of a solo home run.

Despite the early momentum from Clarke's incredible catch, the A's struggled to get anything going at the plate in Monday's loss. Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi carried a one-hit shutout into the eighth inning.

This marks the third straight week that Clarke made an eye-popping catch, as he also produced amazing plays against the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.

The Athletics are still in the midst of a rebuild and are last in the AL West with a 26-42 record. Clarke's presence provides some optimism for the future, as he appears to be a star in the making.

Fans will be excited to see what Clarke has in store for Tuesday night's game against the Angels.
