The streaming giant dropped the 'First Look' teaser for the docuseries back in December, featuring appearances from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and team icons like Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Jimmy Johnson and many more.
"America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys is the definitive story of the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones' impact on NFL history," the logline for the docuseries stated. "What began as a daring purchase led to the assembly of the iconic '90s football team – a decade-plus journey, led by Jones' intrepid business moves, that revolutionized global sports and resulted in three NFL titles. Through first-hand interviews and never-before-seen footage, this series unravels the dramatic twists and turns on the road to the Cowboys becoming the most valuable sports franchise in the world."
Emmy Award-winning directors Chapman and Maclain Way, who previously directed Netflix documentaries like Untold, Wild Wild Country and Kings of Tupelo, are the team behind the Cowboys docuseries, which is produced by Skydance Sports in association with NFL Films and Stardust Frames Productions. In addition to interviews with franchise legends, there will be appearances from political and pop culture figures such as President George W. Bush, Nike founder Phil Knight and media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
The Cowboys missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020 after finishing the 2024 season with a disappointing 7-10 record. Star quarterback Dak Prescott was forced to miss the majority of the year after undergoing season-ending hamstring surgery.
Fans are certainly hoping the 2025 season will see the Cowboys recapture the success of the 1990s. Dallas hasn't advanced past the Divisional Round of the playoffs since its last Super Bowl win in 1995.
America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys will give fans the chance to relive the golden era in Dallas before Prescott and company embark on another title chase when the 2025 campaign begins.
