Reported Reason for Punk Agreeing to Wrestle in Saudi Arabia

Monday Night RAW

For the first time in his career, CM Punk is set to wrestle in Saudi Arabia when he challenges John Cena for the WWE Championship at Night of Champions on June 28.

During Monday night's episode of Raw, Punk interrupted Cena while he was cutting a promo and made it clear that he was coming for the title. Cena agreed to put it on the line at Night of Champions later this month.

Punk has not been part of past WWE shows in Saudi Arabia since his return in November 2023, and he has been critical of WWE's partnership with the country in the past.

Back in 2020, while Punk was serving as a correspondent on FS1's WWE Backstage show, he infamously called out The Miz on social media, telling him to "go s--k a blood money covered d--k in Saudi Arabia."

Punk seemed to make his stance on WWE holding shows in Saudi Arabia quite clear at that time, but during an Instagram Live session (h/t Fightful Select) last month, Punk gave a diplomatic answer when asked why he "hates" going to Saudi Arabia, saying: "I've never been to Saudi, I don't hate coming to Saudi."

That led some to believe that it was Punk's way of leaving the door open for himself to be part of Night of Champions, and according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Cultaholic.com's Aidan Gibbons), Punk has been planned to be part of the show for quite some time.

Per Meltzer, it has been known internally for "months" that Punk was going to go to Saudi Arabia for Night of Champions.

While Meltzer added that Punk had the option to go to Saudi Arabia and could have declined without it hurting his standing in WWE, he has long been committed to going.

With Punk on board, arguably one of the biggest matches of the year is on tap for Night of Champions with Cena defending the WWE title against his longtime rival in Punk as part of Cena's retirement tour.

Knight vs. Rollins Feud Reportedly in the Works

Monday night's episode of Raw reportedly may have set the stage for a major feud involving LA Knight.

According to Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, Knight is expected to feud with the winner of the 2025 men's Money in the Bank ladder match Seth Rollins entering Night of Champions later this month.

Both Knight and Rollins vied for the Money in the Bank contract at the Money in the Bank premium live event last weekend, which was perhaps when the seed was planted for their rivalry.

Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed interfered on Rollins' behalf, bringing the fight to Knight and other participants in the match.

Despite that, Knight recovered and was seemingly on the verge of grabbing the briefcase, but Rollins yanked him down from the ladder, hit him with his signature stomp and ascended the ladder himself to become a two-time Money in the Bank winner.

During Monday's edition of Raw, Breakker competed in a Fatal 4-Way match against Penta, Dominik Mysterio and Sami Zayn in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament.

Knight got some revenge on Breakker for his interference at MITB by hitting him with a BFT outside the ring, which helped Zayn go on to win the match.

The Megastar is in the King of the Ring tournament as well, and he is slated to face Randy Orton, Aleister Black and Carmelo Hayes in the first round.

Based on what occurred on Raw, it won't be at all surprising if Rollins, Breakker, Reed or all three of them cost Knight in his match, which could set the stage for an eventual grudge match between Knight and Rollins.

WWE Reportedly Planning Naomi vs. Cargill for Evolution

Another chapter is reportedly expected to be written in a major rivalry next month at Evolution.

According to PWInsider Elite (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), is planning a match between Naomi and Jade Cargill at the upcoming Evolution premium live event.

Naomi secured one of the biggest victories of her career last weekend, as she won the women's Money in the Bank ladder match for the first time.

She was rewarded for the excellent work she has done since turning heel, which occurred earlier this year when it was revealed that she was the mystery attacker who put Cargill on the shelf for months.

Cargill got some measure of revenge by beating Naomi at WrestleMania 41, but they have remained at odds, and Naomi has taken issue with Bianca Belair as well, who teamed with both Naomi and Cargill in the past.

Per PWInsider, WWE's plan is to give Jade a "big push" in the coming weeks, culminating in another clash with Naomi.

Cargill is set to compete in the Queen of the Ring tournament, which opens up the possibility of Naomi interfering in one of her matches and costing her the chance to vie for a Women's Championship.

If that happens, Naomi vs. Cargill at Evolution would be the next logical step, and it could even potentially include a stipulation, such as Naomi's Money in the Bank contract being on the line.
