Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani Will Throw Simulated Game on Tuesday Amid Elbow Injury Rehab

Taylyn Hadley Jun 8, 2025

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to throw in a simulated game on Tuesday, according to Dodger Talk’s David Vassegh, as he continues his recovery from an elbow injury.

Ohtani is expected to return to two-way play after the All-Star break, scheduled for July 11–15.

Ohtani has not pitched in a live game since undergoing surgery to repair his right ulnar collateral ligament in September 2023, followed by a left shoulder labrum procedure last November that further delayed his return to the mound.

Fans were briefly concerned on Sunday afternoon when Shohei Ohtani was hit by a pitch during the Dodgers’ 7-3 win over the Louisville Cardinals. Ohtani took an 86.7 mph ball to the left foot from reliever Matt Svanson in the top of the eighth inning and appeared to be in pain, but he remained in the game.

At the plate, the 30-year-old is slashing .293 with 23 home runs, 39 RBIs and a 1.021 OPS — good for fourth in the league.

The defending champions sit at 39-27 and first in the NL West but are eager to see their two-way star return to the mound as he continues progressing in his rehab.
