UFC's Dana White Says He's Promoting Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford Boxing Fight

Canelo Álvarez's unanimous decision victory over William Scull in May set the stage for a bout between him and Terence Crawford.

The exact details of that matchup are still unknown, but UFC CEO Dana White clarified after UFC 316 that he's going to promote the fight.

"I'm promoting the fight," White said. "...I'll let you guys know when it's time to let you know."

There were reports of an agreement between Álvarez and Crawford in February, but the original agreement was seemingly nixed when Álvarez agreed to fight Jake Paul.

But that fight, which was slated for May, was soon called off, and a bout between Álvarez and Crawford was back on, with a September date circled.

Álvarez and Crawford gave fans a preview of the fight last month when they faced off in the ring after Álvarez's victory over Scull.

Following Álvarez's win over Scull, it was announced that his bout with Crawford would take place in Las Vegas on September 12, though White's comments indicate that the exact details have not been worked out just yet.

While the date and location of the fight are still to come, it's clear that the matchup between the two boxers will be one to keep an eye on. Bleacher Report's Lyle Fitzsimmons ranks Crawford as No. 2 in his pound-for-pound rankings, with Álvarez coming in at No. 6.

Álvarez, 34, has a record of 63-2, winning six consecutive fights since his loss to Dmitry Bivol in 2022. Crawford, 37, has 41-0 in his career, with his most recent win coming against Israil Madrimov in August 2024.

Both boxers have been dominating the sport for years, but have never met in the ring. Fans will finally get the chance to see them square off soon.
