Sovereignty won the 157th running of the Belmont Stakes, capping off a dominant year for the three-year-old horse, who won the Kentucky Derby earlier this year.
The three-year-old is the first horse since Justify in 2018 to win two Triple Crown races in the same year, after winning the Kentucky Derby earlier this year.
For the second consecutive year, the Belmont Stakes were held at Saratoga Race Course, with renovations still underway at Belmont Park, while the $2 million purse remains the same as a year ago.
