Coco Gauff Shares Photo of Inspirational Note to Self After 2025 Roland-Garros Win

After winning this year's Roland-Garros title, Coco Gauff shared an inspirational note on Instagram that she wrote to herself before taking home her second career Grand Slam victory.

That note proved to be prophetic as Gauff, the World No. 2, beat No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in three sets on Saturday.

Gauff also shared a note she wrote after having a dream that she would win the French Open someday. That dream happened in June 2021, according to a separate post on Instagram:

Gauff has enjoyed her most major success at Roland-Garros, reaching at least the quarterfinal round each of the last five years. She's made the semifinals three times and the finals twice.

The note she wrote referenced U.S. sprinter Gabby Thomas, a three-time Olympic gold medalist who won the 200m, the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay at Paris last summer.

Last summer, Thomas spoke with CBS on the power of self-talk and building her confidence, and that involved writing down that she would be an Olympic champion

"I am building my self-talk. I'm building my confidence in that moment. I am telling myself that I am already the Olympic champion," Thomas said. "I wrote down over and over every morning, while I was in Paris, that I will be the Olympic champion—in my notes app—over and over and I envisioned the race all day, every day, imagining myself winning and crossing the line in front."

It worked for Thomas, and it worked for Gauff, who is now a two-time Grand Slam singles champion, having also beaten Sabalenka to win the 2023 US Open.

She's authored a fantastic resume already at just 21 years of age, and now Gauff will look toward Wimbledon to potentially win her third major next month.
