Saturday's final was a rematch of the US Open Final in 2023, where Gauff beat Sabalenka in three sets to win her first major title. Sabalenka came into the French Open Final as the world No. 1 and with plenty of momentum following her win against Iga Świątek in the semifinals.

Despite Sabalenka coming in as a heavy favorite over Gauff, it was a tense battle all the way through, and Gauff ultimately outlasted Sabalenka in the third set to claim the victory.

Gauff, still just 21 years old, is now the first American to win the French Open since 2015, when tennis legend Serena Williams did it.

The win also marks Gauff's second major title after her US Open win in 2023. She'll look to use the momentum from Saturday's victory to continue racking up milestones and accomplishments.
