Ravens' Harbaugh Reacts to Aaron Rodgers' Steelers Contract, Calls Him Hall Of Fame QB

Jack MurrayJun 6, 2025

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh understands the challenge that the Pittsburgh Steelers may put up this season.

Harbaugh spoke about new Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Friday and acknowledged the resume and depth on the Steelers' roster and how the team will be preparing for that challenge for their divisional games in 2025.

"He's a Hall of Fame QB, so we'll have to go against a Hall of Fame QB with one of the premier teams in the league, who happens to be our archrival," Harbaugh told reporters. "So, we'll be preparing for that."

Rodgers reportedly signed a one-year contract worth less than $20 million, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Rodgers is a 10-time Pro Bowler, four-time MVP and led the Green Bay Packers to a victory over the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. The 41-year-old last won the MVP in 2021 and is coming off a two-year stint with the New York Jets.

He missed essentially all of his first season in New York with a ruptured Achilles but returned in 2024. He threw for 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions but the Jets struggled to a 5-12 record.

While he wasn't playing at his MVP form, he should still be an upgrade to the Steelers' quarterback room. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both saw significant playing time in 2024 and led the team to a 10-7 record but have since departed for the New York Giants and Jets respectively.

Rodgers now is the top option in a room that consists of Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Skylar Thompson. While this should be a boost for the Steelers, Harbaugh's Ravens are still the team to beat.

Baltimore has won two consecutive AFC North titles and have a perennial MVP candidate Lamar Jackson under center. However, the Steelers have taken four of their last five games against Baltimore and will hope Rodgers and new wide receiver D.K. Metcalf can help them knock the Ravens off their pedestal.
