Amon-Ra St. Brown Had Offseason Surgery for Knee Injury, Should Be Back for Lions Camp

Doric SamJun 5, 2025

Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown took a necessary step to be ready for the 2025 season.

St. Brown told reporters on Thursday that he underwent offseason surgery to address a knee injury following the 2024 campaign, but he expects to be back on the field when training camp begins for the Lions on July 27.

St. Brown has sat out the voluntary portion of Detroit's OTAs while recovering from his cleanup procedure. The Lions are set to hold mandatory minicamp next week from June 10-12, but it sounds like he will be watching from the sidelines.

The 25-year-old is coming off his third consecutive Pro Bowl selection after finishing the 2024 season with 115 catches for 1,263 yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns. It was his third straight season with over 100 receptions and 1,000 yards.

The Lions rewarded St. Brown with a four-year, $120 million contract extension prior to last season, and he will be counting for a $13.9 million cap hit in 2025. That figure jumps to $33.1 million in 2026, so Detroit will need to maximize this window before having to do some roster gymnastics next offseason.

After disappointingly losing in the NFC Divisional Round despite being the No. 1 seed in the conference, the Lions are certainly motivated to climb to the mountaintop in 2025. St. Brown made the team's goals perfectly clear, telling reporters, "For us, it’s Super Bowl or nothing."

The star wideout will need to be at 100 percent if he hopes to help bring the first Super Bowl title to Detroit, so the team will continue to be cautious with his recovery.
