Cam Ward Has a 'F--k It Mentality,' Calvin Ridley Says to Praise Titans Rookie QB

Tennessee Titans quarterback and No. 1 overall draft pick Cam Ward has been getting great reviews so far, and they continued Tuesday when wide receiver Calvin Ridley talked about the rookie's mentality and on-field presence to reporters (h/t ESPN's Turron Davenport).

“He’s relaxed,” Ridley said when Davenport asked about the "calm confidence" others say Ward exudes.

“You need that at the quarterback position, man. You can’t just be an over-thinker, a jittery guy. You’ve just got to kind of be OK with, you know, f--king up, doing good.

“You’ve just got to have that ‘f--k it’ mentality. He’s kind of got that.”

The positive remarks have persisted in offseason workouts, with head coach Brian Callahan notably talking about Ward's improvement.

He also said this in a May 20 press conference.

“Cam has done a really nice job of integrating himself,” Callahan said, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “A lot of that is just knowing the play call, being able to spit it out in the huddle, having the tempo, getting familiar with the receivers and what the words mean, and how to call it, how your snap count sounds. All that stuff has been really well done on his part.”

It's obviously a good sign to see Ward impress his head coach and also his No. 1 wide receiver in Ridley, who had 64 catches for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns last year. They have work to do to improve a 3-14 team that finished 27th in scoring last season. We'll see what the on-field results bring starting in September, but it's so far, so good for Ward as he continues his offseason development.
