Carlos Alcaraz Beats Tommy Paul, Updated French Open Men's Bracket at Roland-Garros
Tommy Paul has authored a number of memorable wins during this year's French Open. Carlos Alcaraz was not in the mood to partake in any such drama.
The No. 2 seed in the men's draw went through Paul like a hot racket through butter, beating him 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 in quarterfinal play on Tuesday.

Alcaraz won the first seven games of the match before Paul, the No. 12 seed, finally held serve in the second game of the second set. That was all he would muster until a far more competitive third set, however.
The two players held serve through the first eight games of the third set before Alcaraz broke him for a sixth time. That proved decisive, as Alcaraz held serve one last time and booked his place in the semifinals.
This was a truly dominant performance from the Spaniard. Paul didn't manage a single break point, while Alcaraz converted 6-of-17 such opportunities. The two finished deadlocked in aces (three), though Alcaraz won 88 percent of his first-serve points, compared to just 56 percent from Paul.
Alcaraz also smashed 40 winners to just 13 from Paul.
All in all, Alcaraz showed his quality on Tuesday and continues to look like the favorite to defend his 2024 title at Roland Garros. He's dropped just three sets through five matches, with 8-seed Lorenzo Musetti up next.
As for Paul, it was a good run in France, but he simply met his match. This one was never truly in doubt.
