Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Alexandre Lacazette, Mehmet Topal Rumours
Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette has not yet made a decision on his future, leaving open the possibility of joining the Gunners this summer.
According to Vaishali Bhardwaj of the London Evening Standard, Lyon coach Hubert Fournier admitted that while the striker had not yet asked for a transfer, there is time for that situation to change.
"Things can still change. It is early July," Fournier said. "The sooner it is resolved, the better it will be for everyone. He is still under contract and the club is the decision-maker. At no time have I felt a request to leave from him."
In June, the Frenchman said he had not decided either way but was adamant he would only leave for a UEFA Champions League club. Per Bhardwaj's report, Lacazette told Le Parisien:
"I have not made my decision.
...
I am not worried. As soon as I have decided, I want it all to happen quickly.
When? That is the question... I could stay at Lyon next season and have a terrible season, I could leave and have an incredible season. Everything depends on the destination.
"
Sport 360's James Piercy is convinced Lacazette will end up at Arsenal this summer:
Nabil Fekir has since confirmed he will stay with Lyon, leaving Lacazette who may still depart.
Football writer Philippe Auclair believes the 24-year-old to be the better option of the two:
Certainly, Lacazette is just the player Arsenal need.
The striker scored 31 goals and made six assists in all competitions last season, and his consistent ability to hit the back of the net would add great strength to the Gunners attack to the point where they could become title challengers.
WhoScored.com noted his ruthlessness in front of goal:
The forward excels in running at players, using his great pace and strength to barge his way past defenders before finishing with clinical precision.
Alongside compatriot Olivier Giroud and the world-class Alexis Sanchez, Lacazette's presence would ensure Arsenal's front line could boast a potent combination of pace, aerial power and exceptional technique as ruthless as any attack in the Premier League.
Arsene Wenger should go all out to secure his signature.
Fenerbahce Receive Mystery Bid for Mehmet Topal
According to George Bellshaw of Metro.co.uk, Turkish Eurosport are reporting that Fenerbahce have received a £5 million bid for defensive midfielder Mehmet Topal, with Arsenal believed to be the club responsible.

Squawka listed the 29-year-old as Fenerbahce's top performer last season, as he successfully made 46 per cent of his tackles and won 64 per cent of his aerial duels.
The former Valencia man is comfortable in possession, as demonstrated by his 87 per cent passing accuracy and success in 74 per cent of his take-ons.
The experienced Turk could help add solidity to the Gunners' midfield, and at £5 million, he would represent a relatively low-risk proposition.
However, at 29, Topal would only be a short-term solution. If Arsenal are unable to land a higher-quality defensive midfielder this summer, then it could be worth it. Otherwise, they would be better suited bidding for a younger player who can truly add quality to their squad.
