French Open 2025 QF Schedule and Predictions for Tuesday's Roland-Garros Bracket

Nicholas NathansonJun 2, 2025

Roland-Garros quarterfinal action officially begins Tuesday and will feature both Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe, who are aiming to become the first American semifinalist at Roland-Garros since Andre Agassi in 1999.

However, each of them has a tall task ahead of them, as Paul takes on the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, while Tiafoe takes on an in-form Lorenzo Musetti.

In the women's draw, three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek will face Elina Svitolina, while Aryna Sabalenka seeks revenge against Zheng Qinwen, who defeated her in straight sets in the Italian Open quarterfinal.

We've got you covered below with everything you need for Tuesday's action.

Carlos Alcaraz Gets By Tommy Paul In Another Physically Grueling Battle

Carlos Alcaaz

Over the years, Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul have had some thrilling encounters.

And Tuesday's match should be no exception.

Tommy Paul enters with fresh legs after defeating Alexei Popyrin in less than two hours.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz enters on the heels of a physically grueling matchup against Ben Shelton.

The defending champion has struggled to close out his previous two matches, dropping the third set on both occasions.

Considering Paul often finds his best tennis late, it will be of utmost importance for Alcaraz to play a complete match.

But the Spaniard is in peak form and should be able to defeat Paul in four sets, in a match that may see multiple tiebreakers.

Frances Tiafoe's Impressive Run Comes To An End

4 of 5
2025 French Open - Day Eight

How improbable is Frances Tiafoe's run to the Roland-Garros quarterfinals?

Consider this: he's won as many matches this week (4) as he had in his previous nine main-draw appearances on the red clay.

While the effects of a dominant serve and blistering forehand aren't felt the same way on the clay court due to the slower speed, the 27-year-old has changed his game style to adapt.

And so far that's suited him well, as he became the first American to reach the Roland Garros quarterfinals without dropping a set since the legendary Andre Agassi in 1995.

But that's about to change.

Earlier this year, Lorenzo Musetti became the first Italian man to reach the semifinals of all three clay-court Masters 1000 events in a single season.

The 23-year-old has won 18 of his 21 matches on the surface this year, wearing down opponents with his topspin, baseline consistency, and all-around versatility.

Tiafoe can challenge Musetti by coming out with an aggressive game plan and limiting long points.

However, given the way Musetti has consistently performed this year, he should be able to advance in four sets.

Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek Move On To Set Up Semifinal Match

2025 French Open - Day Eight
Aryna Sabalenka

Despite trailing by a set and service break against Elena Rybakina, Iga Swiatek found her best tennis late to keep her Roland-Garros title hopes alive.

The three-time defending champion is expected to face a similar test in the quarterfinal in Elina Svitolina, who, like Rybakina, utilizes baseline aggression and equips a strong serve.

As long as she can dictate pace and stay calm under pressure, Swiatek should advance in straight sets.

Meanwhile, top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka faces Zheng Qinwen, who defeated her in straight sets in the Italian Open quarterfinal.

Zheng won the Olympic gold medal here in the 2024 Paris Olympics, proving that she's a serious contender on the French clay.

However, Sabalenka has been dominant this week and is expected to advance, setting up a thrilling semifinal match with Swiatek.
