The New York Liberty have enjoyed a hot start to the season as they look to defend their WNBA title, and they took their dominance to a new level on Sunday.

The Liberty downed the Connecticut Sun 100-52, giving them the second-largest win in WNBA history. The largest margin of victory still belongs to the Minnesota Lynx, who beat the Indiana Fever by 59 points in 2017.

Sabrina Ionescu led the way for the Liberty on Sunday with 18 points despite playing just 19 minutes. Breanna Stewart, Leonie Fiebich and Jonquel Jones all added 13. New York shot 62.3 percent from the field, 59.4 percent from deep and 88.2 percent from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, the Sun's highest scorers, Tina Charles and Jacy Sheldon, had just 10 each. Connecticut shot 31.1 percent from the field and an abysmal 6-of-28 from three as the team dropped to 1-6 on the year.

With the win, the Liberty improved to 7-0 on the season, and they haven't had much trouble in the early going. Through the first few weeks, they've already collected five double-digit wins, including four wins by 20 or more. The 7-0 start is tied for their best in franchise history.

Stewart, Ionescu and Jones have all come out of the gates strong. Stewart leads the team in scoring with 19 points per game, while Ionescu is putting up 17.8 points per game. Jones is averaging 16.2 points along with 11.4 rebounds.

There's still a lot that could happen between now and the playoffs, like injuries, trades and more, but all signs are pointing to a dominant regular season and a deep playoff run for the Liberty.

For now, they'll focus on the game ahead against the Washington Mystics as they look to stay undefeated.
