Bryce Huff Reportedly Nearing Trade to 49ers from Eagles, Has Reworked Contract

Paul KasabianMay 30, 2025

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly nearing a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire defensive end Bryce Huff for a mid-round draft pick, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter noted the pick in discussion would be a future third day selection

Huff played 12 games for the Super Bowl champion Eagles last year, starting six. He amassed 13 tackles, four quarterback hits and 2.5 sacks.

Huff played his first four seasons with the New York Jets (2020-2023) after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis. He played 54 games over four seasons, primarily as a reserve save for the 2021 campaign, when he started seven of nine games.

He saved his best for last in New York, amassing 10 sacks and 21 quarterback hits in 17 games for the Jets. Huff also added 29 tackles, 19 of which were solo.

Huff then parlayed that performance into a three-year, $51.1 million contract, per Over the Cap, with $34 million in fully guaranteed money.

However, Huff never lived up to the deal, as his pass-rushing performance took a big dip. He only played in two of the Eagles' four playoff games and didn't record a statistic.

So now it appears Huff is off to San Francisco as the Eagles look to move on from the contract while the 49ers hope he can reclaim the 2023 form that got him a lucrative second contract after he appeared to be one of the league's promising pass-rushers at the time. It's certainly conceivable to see Huff return to that level with a change of scenery, and the 49ers will spend a mid-round pick while picking up a reworked contract in order to find out where the ex-Memphis star can do so.
