Becky Lynch Beats Lyra Valkyria for WWE Women's IC Title at Money in the Bank 2025
Becky Lynch defeated Lyra Valkyria at Money in the Bank on Saturday to win the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship for the first time.
Lynch and Valkyria nearly ended the match on a dramatic nine-count before scrambling back into the ring, where they traded pinfall attempts and rapid reversals in a tense final stretch.
The Man ultimately capitalized on the referee’s position, using the official’s blind spot to her advantage. As Valkyria went for a roll-up, Lynch countered and grabbed a handful of Valkyria’s shorts to secure the pinfall and steal the victory.
Post-match, Valkyria was forced to raise the new champion’s hand and wrap the title around Lynch’s waist in a show of respect. But the moment quickly soured—fed up with the disrespect, Valkyria hoisted Lynch into the air and unleashed a furious beatdown, making it clear their feud is far from over.
Lyra was originally supposed to team with Bayley in a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez at WrestleMania 41, but Bayley was taken out by a mystery attacker beforehand.
In need of a replacement partner, Valkyria joined forces with Lynch, who returned at WrestleMania, making her first WWE appearance in nearly a year.
Lyra and Becky won the titles on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but their reign was short-lived as they dropped the titles back to Liv and Raquel the next night on Raw.
Following the match, Lynch surprisingly attacked Valkyria, cementing a heel turn just 24 hours after her long-anticipated WWE return.
The Man later admitted to being responsible for the attack on Bayley, leading to a Women's Intercontinental Championship match between Becky and Lyra at Backlash last month.
Lynch used underhanded tactics during the match, as she poked Valkyria in the eye, but Lyra managed to recover and beat Becky with a roll-up.
A furious Lynch took out her frustrations by attacking Valkyria afterward, which served to escalate and continue their rivalry in the following weeks.
In an attempt to get Valkyria to agree to a rematch, Lynch challenged her to another title match at Money in the Bank, adding the stipulation that she could not challenge Lyra again in the event of a loss.
However, Becky also proposed the stipulation that if she beat Lyra, then Valkyria would have to raise her hand and declare she is the better woman.
Lynch got the job done in her second title match against Lyra, making her only the second women's intercontinental champion in WWE history and adding to an already Hall-of-Fame-worthy résumé.
