In one of the most thrilling matches of the year, the action spilled into chaos around the announcer’s table in what many thought was the match’s defining moment — but the surprises kept coming.

Paul wowed the crowd with a backflip off the ropes, sending Uso crashing through the announcers table. As the dust settled, Cena crept back into the ring with his title in hand and blindsided Rhodes with a brutal shot.

Just when it seemed like the end, a masked figure dressed in all black stormed the ring and speared Cena to the mat before unleashing a furious flurry of punches. The crowd erupted as the intruder removed the mask — revealing none other than R-Truth.

R-Truth then leveled Cena with a title belt shot of his own before fleeing back through the crowd. With Cena dazed, Rhodes capitalized, hitting a Cross Rhodes to close the show and secure the win for his team.

Exactly one week ago, R-Truth announced on social media that he had been released from WWE, a move that shocked and disappointed fans around the world.

However, R-Truth is now back with the WWE and will be going by his real name, Ron Killings, moving forward, per PWInsider. WWE also revealed merch with the Ron Killings name, signaling his return.

Saturday's bout featured the convergence of two heated storylines, one of which began during the build to WrestleMania.

Cena won the men's Elimination Chamber match back in March to earn a WWE Championship match against Rhodes on the Grandest Stage of Them All. It initially seemed as though it was going to be a respectful encounter between two beloved babyfaces, but things quickly changed.

Cena shocked the wrestling world by brutally attacking Rhodes at Elimination Chamber and turning heel for the first time in over 20 years.

At WrestleMania, Cena utilized heel tactics, including enlisting the services of rapper Travis Scott to interfere, which resulted in Cena beating Cody for the title to become a record-breaking, 17-time world champ.

Also at WrestleMania, Uso beat Gunther to become world heavyweight champion for the first time, while Paul defeated one of the most respected wrestlers in the business in AJ Styles.

Paul targeted Jey after WrestleMania and attacked him on numerous occasions, resulting in a title match at Saturday Night's Main Event.

During the latter stages of the title match between Uso and Paul, Cena showed up and attacked Jey, but Rhodes then made a surprise return to even the odds, marking his first appearance on WWE programming since his WrestleMania loss.

A tag team match challenge was laid down and accepted on the spot, setting up a star-studded affair involving Cena, Paul, Rhodes and Uso at Money in the Bank.

While there weren't any specific stakes, the fact that Rhodes and Uso prevailed suggests that a rematch for the WWE Championship against Cena could be in The American Nightmare's future.
