Stone Cold vs. CM Punk and Dream WWE Matches That Must Become a Reality
WWE executives are quick to tout breaking financial records left and right—easy when the company is charging more than ever before—but the quality of Raw and SmackDown programming has left a lot to be desired recently.
For Triple H and WWE Creative to get its weekly television shows and monthly premium live events back on track, the company needs to stop fooling around and start booking dream matches that will get casual fans interested in the product again.
Here are the biggest possible dream matches WWE can book for 2025 and beyond.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin vs. CM Punk
Without a doubt, the biggest possible dream match WWE could book is a first-ever meeting between "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and CM Punk.
Casual wrestling fans saw Punk inducting Austin and Bret Hart's WrestleMania 13 match into the WWE Hall of Fame and saw the camaraderie between the two legends, but the animosity is still boiling under the surface.
For hardcore wrestling fans, Punk and Austin had a series of moments in 2011 and 2012, including an intense face-to-face interview with Jim Ross, that created a buzz around a possible dream match that still carries weight over a decade later.
Austin wrestling a match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 gave fans hope of at least one more contest. If the Texas Rattlesnake does agree to one more bout, it should be a long-term feud with Punk.
Just imagine the promo battles between two of the best talkers in wrestling history.
Roman Reigns vs. The Rock
Another major dream match WWE could feasibly book over the next year is a family showdown between Roman Reigns and The Rock. The two have worked together in tag team bouts, but they have never faced off one-on-one.
Eventually, The Rock will be looking for a retirement match, and who better than his cousin to earn the honor? Add the long-term implications of the successful Bloodline storylines, and the potential bout would be worthy of the WrestleMania main event.
Reigns and Johnson previously teased tension, with The Rock using his power to help Solo Sikoa challenge The Tribal Chief. With WWE Creative looking for explosive moments, having Johnson attack Reigns like he previously did with Cody Rhodes would make headlines for fans.
Over the years, Reigns has improved in the ring, becoming a serviceable worker. With Johnson's movie career depending on him not getting injured, trusting his cousin to protect him makes this match even more likely.
John Cena vs. Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan may not be popular with younger fans, but his legend within the wrestling industry is undeniable.
With John Cena on his retirement tour, it's now or never for a potential dream match between the two generational icons.
Cena has been at the top of his game during his run as undisputed WWE champion, but some of the one-off matchups are about tying up loose ends in his career, such as the battles against Randy Orton and R-Truth.
With that in mind, Hogan should return to WWE programming and claim he has one match left in him and that he's been cleared by doctors to fight. The heel Cena should enter the picture and offer to end The Hulkster's career once and for all.
The match will be a spectacle—like Hogan vs. The Rock at WrestleMania X8—and would give both men the chance to make history and properly end their careers with this significant accomplishment.
