Mike Tyson Offered Comeback Boxing Fight vs. Fedor Emelianenko After Jake Paul Loss

Andrew PetersMay 27, 2025

Mike Tyson's most recent return to the ring didn't go as he would have liked, but the legendary boxer could have a chance to redeem himself.

Per Talk Sport's George Glinski, APL President Alimzhan Bektaev has extended Tyson an invitation to get back into the ring to fight Fedor Emelianenko. Bektaev said that "work in this direction is already underway."

Bektaev said that the potential fight between Tyson and Emelianenko is scheduled for December. Further details for the possible bout are still unknown, and it's unclear whether Tyson has agreed to the fight.

Tyson, who has recorded 44 knockouts and won countless titles across his illustrious career, came out of retirement in November to fight Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It was Tyson's first professional fight since 2005.

The 58-year-old Tyson struggled against Paul, who is 30 years younger than him. The fight went eight rounds and Paul was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

In an interview with Bleacher Report in March, Tyson didn't close the door on a comeback but clarified he wanted some time to rest after the fight against Paul.

"Everything is possible, but I'm having a good time right now just chilling. I'm just having fun boxing with my accountant now," he said, later adding, "The fact is, hey, if somebody breaks my record, I might come back."

Though Tyson appeared to be in good shape in the fight in November, age was certainly a factor as he failed to keep up with Paul. A fight against Emelianenko could look much different.

Emelianenko is 48 years old, making him a much more age-appropriate matchup for Tyson than Paul was.

Though Emelianenko is an MMA legend with a career record of 40-7, he would be stepping into new territory in a boxing match against Tyson since he has little experience in the sport. Still, it's hard to imagine Emelianenko wouldn't be able to compete against Tyson.
