The annual cheese-rolling downhill race took place on Monday at Cooper’s Hill in Gloucestershire, England.

Dozens of competitors navigated the steep descent across multiple races throughout the day, with 23-year-old Tom Kopke emerging victorious in the first men's race for the second year in a row.

"It was crazy. This year was different," Kopke said, via Carys Nally and Clara Bullock of BBC News. "I shut off my brain and went for it.

"All the people at the top said they were going to steal my title, but this is mine," he added.

The races, which have been a tradition for over 100 years, feature competitors tumbling down the 180-meter hill to chase a large wheel of double gloucester cheese weighing roughly eight pounds.

Luke Preece won the second race of the day, an especially impressive feat considering he wore a Superman costume while running.

"I am absolutely buzzed, amazing… the adrenaline," Preece said, per Nally and Bullock.

Byron Smith, a runner-up in the 2024 event, secured a victory of his own at the end of the third race.

In the women's race, Ava Sender Logan won during her first time competing in the event.

"I don't like cheese," Logan admitted after her race.

The 2025 competition attracted thousands of spectators and is set to return once again in 2026.
