Packers' Jordan Love 'Excited' to Play with 'Stud' Matthew Golden, 'Very Polished' WR
Jordan Love is a big fan of the newest addition to his team's wide receiver room.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback had high praise for Matthew Golden, the 23rd overall pick out of Texas, ahead of their first season together.
“He’s a great dude,” Love said, per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman. “I’m excited to see just his potential on the football field. But just the start we’ve had, doing routes on air and things like that, he looks like a stud, looks like a very polished receiver, so I’m excited to see just how far he can take it.”

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Golden, who started his collegiate career at Houston before finishing with the Longhorns, had 987 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2024. A strong route runner, Golden showed off his speed with a 4.29-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. It was the fastest among receivers in this year's class.
Golden was the No. 20 overall player and No. 2 receiver on the final big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
He'll now join a receiver room that's still looking for its star. Green Bay has some solid options in Jayden Reed, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, but Golden will undoubtedly have the chance to shine early on in his career.
Love certainly thinks he's capable of doing so.
