It was never really a game.

The Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid clamped down on defense and found their offensive rhythm Friday night, shutting out the Dallas Stars in a 3-0 road win to even the Western Conference Finals at 1-1.

After a defensive collapse in Game 1 that ended in a 6-3 loss, the Oilers stormed back with purpose, drawing first blood just over five minutes into the opening period. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins buried the early goal, setting the tone for a night in which Edmonton never trailed.

Fans took to social media to celebrate the Oilers’ bounce-back effort, with the series now shifting to Edmonton for Game 3 on Monday night.

The first period remained tight defensively, with the Stars blocking four Oilers shots to prevent further damage. But once Edmonton broke through again in the second, the floodgates opened.

Defenseman Brett Kulak dialed in a sharp snapshot midway through the second to double the lead. Just over a minute later, right wing Connor Brown scored on a tip-in that stunned the home crowd and pushed the Oilers' lead to 3-0 after two periods.

From there, it was all defense.

Center Connor McDavid won nine of his 16 faceoffs and tallied one assist, one takeaway and a key shot block in the third period that helped seal the game. Defenseman Evan Bouchard chipped in with two assists and three blocked shots as the Oilers suffocated the Stars down the stretch.

Nugent-Hopkins finished with a goal and an assist, while Kulak and Brown each added goals in the statement win.

Dallas, plagued by turnovers, recorded 27 giveaways compared to Edmonton’s 12—an unforced collapse that left the crowd restless as the series heads north.

The Oilers will take on the Stars in Game 3 on Sunday, looking to grab a 2-1 series advantage.
