Oilers vs. Stars Betting Odds, Player Props and Picks for May 23
The superstars were active throughout Game 1 of the NHL Western Conference Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars.
Connor McDavid, Mikko Rantanen and Leon Draisaitl combined for 11 shots on goal and five points.
The tone was set in Game 1 that the superstars will show up in the series, so there’s no reason to avoid betting on them for Friday’s Game 2.
Connor McDavid Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+105)
Connor McDavid doesn’t have the postseason goal tally you’d expect from a superstar of his caliber.
It hasn't been from a lack of trying, though, as McDavid has 47 shots on goal across the three series, including four in Game 1.
McDavid recorded four or five shots on goal in three of his last four games.
With a 2-0 deficit staring Edmonton in the face, McDavid should continue to rip the puck at Jake Oettinger’s net.
Mikko Rantanen Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-142)
Mikko Rantanen does have the playoff goal total of a superstar with nine tallies.
Dallas’ superstar is without a goal in four games, but he’s put 10 shots on goal during that stretch, including three in the series opener.
The Stars should carry a ton of momentum into Friday after Wednesday’s come-from-behind win, and with that will come a flurry of shots from the top players, led by Rantanen.
Over 6.5 (+100)
Nine goals were scored in Game 1.
Both teams had shot totals in the high 20s and there were seven power-play opportunities for the two sides.
The penalties may not be as abundant in Game 2, but the high-danger scoring chances will be based on how well McDavid, Rantanen and other stars played in the opener.
