Jalen Ramsey Trade Reportedly Not 'Imminent' but Dolphins Plan to Move On Amid Rumors
The Miami Dolphins are exploring trades for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, but it sounds like he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reported Thursday that "nothing is imminent" regarding a trade for Ramsey, but he added that he was told to "keep an eye on" June 1. If the Dolphins trade him before that date, they will incur a cap hit of over $25 million, but that number drops to under $7 million if he's moved after that date.

Dolphins general manager Chris Grier announced last month that the team planned to "move forward" with trade discussions for Ramsey. Grier noted that Ramsey "did not ask for a trade," but he felt that parting ways with the seven-time Pro Bowler gives the team the "best chance to help us win not only just this year, but in the future as well."
Wolfe added that he spoke to Miami defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver about why Ramsey is on his way out, and he shed some light on the situation.
"He said, 'Ramsey's been a great player for us, but relationships are hard, and he's chosen to move on,'" Wolfe explained. "This isn't about a guy who wants more money, or a guy who can't play anymore. This is just a situation where relationships are hard, and the relationship between the Dolphins and Ramsey has essentially run out."
The Dolphins reportedly are aware of some of Ramsey's preferred destinations, as Wolfe named the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers as possible landing spots for him because of his previous relationships with members of each team's respective coaching staff. He played for the Rams from 2019 to 2022 and won a Super Bowl title in 2021.
Ramsey is still a reliable cornerback who can make a difference in the right situation, but it sounds like teams will have to wait until later in the summer for the chance to acquire him.
