Jeff Ulbrich Says Falcons Gave 'Great Support' After Son's Shedeur Sanders Prank Call

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich didn't have any concerns over his job security in the aftermath of his son prank-calling Cleveland Browns draft pick Shedeur Sanders.

"In all honesty, I never went there, but I felt nothing but support from the organization in every single way — from the people that worked the line in the cafeteria to [owner] Mr. [Arthur] Blank himself, all of them," Ulbrich told reporters. "I felt great support from him. It was one of the biggest reasons, in all honesty, that I came back here, because of the organization and what I think of this building."

During the second night of the 2025 NFL draft, Jax Ulbrich called Sanders and impersonated New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. He initially indicated the Saints were going to pick the former Colorado quarterback before revealing its was a ruse.

Sanders had to wait until the fifth round to receive an official call from the Browns.

The NFL opened an investigation into the matter and it didn't take long to identify Jax as the culprit. The Falcons said he "unintentionally came across the draft contact phone number" for Sanders from his father's iPad and wrote it down for future use. His dad was unaware anything was amiss.

The league fined the team $250,000 and issued a $100,000 fine to Ulbrich personally.

Jax apologized in a statement he posted to social media, calling the prank call "a tremendous mistake" and "completely inexcusable."

Jeff said the matter "was a challenge for our family."

"But it's a challenge that everyone in our family's up for," he said. "And like I said, it's going to make my son better because of it. He will."

Sanders wasn't the only draft prospect to be the target of a prank call. Former Penn State stars Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren were among the others. There's no evidence implicating Jax Ulbrich in the other calls.
