Jets' Quinnen Williams Calls His Post About Aaron Rodgers' Release 'Immature'
New York Jets star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams acknowledges that he made a mistake by letting frustration get the better of him after the team released Aaron Rodgers earlier this offseason.
Williams, who tweeted-then-deleted "another rebuild year for me I guess" before posting a thumbs down emoji following Rodgers' release, admitted to reporters on Wednesday, "It was an immature thing to do."
"I've grown from that, and Aaron [Glenn] and I have talked about that, and I take full accountability for that," Williams added.

New Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said at the NFL Scouting Combine that he spoke with Williams following his social media misstep, and he prefers for reactions like that to be communicated directly within the team going forward.
"Listen, I understand the reaction of the players," Glenn said at the time. "But I will say this: Every decision that me and [general manager Darren Mougey] make is to win, and to win now. I understand it, but again, listen, this isn’t going to be the last decision I make that will upset some people, and that’s OK. As men, we talk about it. We make sure we keep it in house, and that’s what we’re going to continue to do."
Williams, who was one of New York's team captains for the second straight year in 2024, added Wednesday that he simply wants to win, and his conversations with Glenn made him more comfortable about the team's chances of succeeding in the future.
"I'm just trying to grow as a leader, as a player, as an adult. Talking to [Glenn] just gave me super confidence that we're going in the right direction to win football games," Williams told reporters.
In 2024, Williams was selected to his third straight Pro Bowl as an alternate. He's one of the cornerstones of the Jets' defense, so he will play a key role in helping Glenn lead the franchise back to a respectable level.
