Most Likely Heel, Face Turns at WWE Saturday Night Main Event, AEW Double or Nothing

Kevin BergeMay 22, 2025

This Memorial Day weekend will deliver some of the biggest wrestling moments of the spring with WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground on one weekend.

Times like these set the stage for some of the biggest shocking reveals to launch the summer of wrestling into high gear.

Since WrestleMania 41, WWE has struggled to find a strong base outside the men's world title pictures, but a shocker at SNME could change all that.

All Elite Wrestling is gearing up for All In on July 12, but first Double or Nothing could deliver some heart-wrenching and violent reveals that change the course of the company.

What could both companies deliver during this jam-packed week? Will we see multiple game-changing heel or face turns?

The following are the most likely turns of the weekend based on story build-up and necessity.

Heel: Sami Zayn

1 of 5

When Seth Rollins aligned with Paul Heyman and quickly added Bron Breakker to his new alliance, it seemed like this was a crew that could dominate WWE.

However, The Visionary has faced immediate resistance. Sami Zayn refused to back down to the threats of Rollins and paid the price.

Heyman set the target for Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Jey Uso. However, Zayn and CM Punk both stepped up to protect Jey.

While Punk is clearly at odds with Rollins for a long time to come, Zayn's position feels less firm.

He refused to join The Visionary or move to SmackDown to avoid him, and Breakker brutalized Zayn for his decision.

As in many wrestling storylines though, this could be a fake-out to set up the twist. Punk and Zayn are not friends.

The Best in the World has outwardly stated that The Ultimate Underdog is not a worthy world champion. Their team-up is driven by common enemy.

In the fight for control of Raw, Rollins, Breakker and Heyman are outnumbered, and Zayn would massively change the math in the favor of The Visionary.

This would leave him in an awkward spot with his friend Jey Uso, but that would simply produce more great television, including a dramatic world title match at some point between the friends.

If this turn does not happen at SNME, the show could still sow the seeds based on how Punk and Zayn manage to work together.

Heel: R-Truth

2 of 5

R-Truth may be fighting John Cena, but the 53-year-old veteran has never made it easy to define his state of mind.

For years, Truth has established The Last Real Champ as his "childhood hero". His goal is fighting Cena is to bring back the man he once idolized.

Truth will lose, but that could simply serve as a distraction from the intended story direction of this angle.

If Truth believes that Cena is in the right, he may join and support The Last Real Champ again after this fight, becoming a delusional support to his reign of terror.

Unless Truth is going to completely disappear from the spotlight after this match, a heel turn is the answer to keep him relevant connected to Cena.

Face: Hangman Adam Page

3 of 5

It may be too simple to call Hangman Adam Page a heel or face at present. He continues to walk out of the heel tunnel for his matches, but the fans support him like a top face.

In this way, he is currently a tweener, but his eventual full face turn is on the horizon. Perhaps it will come at Double or Nothing.

Most stars need to make dramatic statements to turn, but The Cowboy simply needs to walk out for the first time in almost a year to his classic theme "Ghost Town Triumph".

This will be a massive moment in the career of Page, who has faced a long road back to the top since losing the AEW World Championship in 2022.

If it does not happen at Double or Nothing, it is most likely it will happen at All In after a bit more redemption from Page for his violent actions over the past two years.

Heel: Daniel Garcia

4 of 5

FTR's heel turn at Dynasty was one of the most memorable moments of the year so far, brutalizing Cope along the way.

The follow-up has focused on Daniel Garcia, who teamed with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler multiple times over the past year.

At first, The Dragon Slayer seemed conflicted, but FTR did not wait for him to choose a side before laying him out with a piledriver.

His tag team match with Nigel McGuinness comes off awkward on paper as Garcia and the Ring of Honor legend have never worked together before.

McGuinness himself called out that this was a match he knew they could not win, and Garcia should be able to see that.

Either revenge has pushed The Dragon Slayer into a spot that is hopeless, or this is a swerve to set up Garcia joining FTR and Stokely Hathaway on a darker path.

This will likely also be the time to bring back Cope and begin laying the groundwork for a Christian Cage and Cope reunion against Harwood and Wheeler.

However, that potential Patriarch face turn will take some time to deliver in the coming months.

Heel: Mina Shirakawa

5 of 5

Who is Mina Shirakawa? While Mina has appeared in AEW multiple times over the past year, her actual motivations remain unclear.

She has fought with and worked alongside "Timeless" Toni Storm. At one time, she seemed completely committed to Mariah May, but May turned on her viciously during their world title story.

May's status in AEW remains up in the air, disappearing from television after her Hollywood Ending against Storm.

If May were to return to help Mina, it would likely push Mina into a heel role in AEW. She could also turn heel due to the outcome of this match, possibly beginning to fully unleash her Stardom persona of The Bloody Angel.

That was teased on Dynamite as Shirakawa showed a vicious side with Storm that could leave her hobbled at Double or Nothing.

Mina's future is a big part of the AEW's women's division. Anything could happen from a straightforward battle of top women to the beginning of a heated rivalry that would likely stretch well past All In.
