Caleb Williams Injured, Latest on Bears Star's Timeline to Return and Status for Eagles Game
The Chicago Bears appeared to have avoided disaster, but will be without quarterback Caleb Williams for Monday's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Williams was officially ruled out on Saturday by the team, while backup Tyson Bagent was a full participant and is questionable:
At first glance, Williams appeared to suffer a serious leg injury while scrambling from the pocket. However, Tom Pelissero of The Ringer and Netflix reported on Monday that Williams avoided a 'major injury' after being carted off in Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
As it turns out, Williams and the Bears may have avoided a worst-case scenario.
Williams is in his third season with the Bears after leading the team to an NFC North title and the divisional round of the playoffs in 2025.
Head coach Ben Johnson and the Bears are now looking to rebound from their Week 2 loss and avoid joining the Green Bay Packers at the bottom of the NFC North standings. If Bagent is unable to play on Monday, Case Keenum will be under center for the Bears.
