Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence Says Travis Hunter Is 'Very Explosive,' 'Impressive to Watch'

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is continuing to impress in the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has taken a particular interest in the rookie two-way standout, praising his versatility and impact early in camp.

“Got a lot of juice, like he can run all day,” Lawrence told reporters on Monday. “A lot of energy. I love it. Good energy. Always dapping guys up, just bringing juice every day. Like I said, high motor. Can just go. It’s like a kid just runs around all day. He doesn’t get tired, it seems like. So you can’t have enough of that. And then, as far as just talent, I mean, kind of speaks for itself. Ball skills, run after the catch, he’s very explosive. Just didn’t realize how explosive he was in and out of cuts. He’s impressive to watch.”

Hunter was the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft after the Jacksonville Jaguars made a bold move to trade up in the draft to secure the coveted two-way player. They sent the No. 5 overall pick, a second-rounder (No. 36), a fourth-rounder (No. 126), and their 2026 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns. In return, the Jaguars received the No. 2 overall pick, along with a fourth-round selection (No. 104) and a sixth-rounder (No. 200).

The Jaguars ended last season with a disappointing 4-13 record, leading to the dismissal of head coach Doug Pederson after three years at the helm. To fill the vacancy, Jacksonville brought in Liam Coen, the former offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Offensively, the team struggled mightily, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence posting a career-low 2,045 passing yards and just 11 touchdowns in 11 games during his fourth NFL season.

The Jaguars are counting on Hunter to inject much-needed energy into both sides of the ball—particularly for an offense that struggled to find its rhythm last season.
