Cardinals' Marvin Harrison Jr. Says He's Added Muscle Ahead of 2025 NFL Season

Scott PolacekMay 19, 2025

Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be stronger in his second NFL season.

The Arizona Cardinals wide receiver told reporters Monday he added muscle this offseason but isn't sure what his playing weight will be in 2025 after playing at 209 pounds as a rookie.

"I feel the same," he added.

Ideally for Harrison, the added muscle can help him overcome the grind of a long NFL season and put up even better numbers than he did in 2024 after he was the No. 4 overall pick of the draft.

The Ohio State product appeared in all 17 games as a rookie and posted 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. While it was solid production for a first-year playmaker, he surely hopes to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in his second season, given some of the hype that accompanied him after a dominant collegiate career.

Reaching that better production will require a better connection with quarterback Kyler Murray.

"For him to have eight touchdowns and feel like he didn't even scratch the surface, that's saying something," Murray told Arizona Sports last month. "Obviously, me and him have to be better and we will be better. But I loved where he was mentally at the end of the season.

"Being more open, being more comfortable with the guys in the locker room, being more comfortable with me, being more comfortable just to speak his mind within the receiving room."

Harrison is expected to be the No. 1 receiver for Arizona in 2025 in a group that includes Michael Wilson, Zay Jones and Greg Dortch. That means dealing with the opponent's top cornerbacks and a physical style of defense from teams looking to slow him down.

With that looming in the future, Harrison is adding muscle as he prepares for what could be a breakout campaign.
