Wyndham Clark Apologizes for Throwing Golf Club on Video at 2025 PGA Championship

Joseph ZuckerMay 19, 2025

Wyndham Clark apologized Monday for throwing his club out of frustration on the 16th hole in the final round of the 2025 PGA Championship.

"As professionals, we are expected to remain professionals even when frustrated and I unfortunately let my emotions get the best of me," he said. "My actions were uncalled for and completely inappropriate, making it clear I have things I need to work on."

Clark hit his tee shot into the bunker on No. 16. After completing is follow through on the swing, he flung his club backwards.

The 2023 U.S. Open champion damaged an advertising board behind the tee box and broke the club head off his driver. Some fans also pointed out the club flew a little too close to the volunteer marshal stationed at the hole.

Needless to say, Clark didn't have a great round. He carded a three-over 74, finishing at four over for the tournament and tying for 50th.

This continues a wider trend for the 31-year-old since his U.S. Open triumph. He has now missed the cut three times and failed to finish better than 33rd in his last seven major appearances.

This season, Clark is 77th in the FedExCup standings with zero wins and one top-10 finish in 13 events.
