Tom Brady Reportedly 'Cognizant' of Raiders Presence, Tries to Be 'Physically Scarce'

Timothy RappMay 19, 2025

Tom Brady has already had an impact as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, but he's trying to take a mostly hands-off approach on a day-to-day basis.

According to Albert Breer of SI.com, "Brady's cognizant of how his mere presence can take the oxygen out of whatever room he's in. So to empower [new head coach Pete Carroll] and general manager John Spytek, whom Brady was with in Tampa, he's tried to make himself physically scarce, staying back in South Florida where he and two of his three children reside."

Granted, Brady isn't the majority owner, a title still held by Mark Davis. And he still has his broadcasting responsibilities with Fox Sports, so being a visible presence at the team's facilities on a weekly basis wouldn't really be feasible anyway.

Seemingly, the hope when Brady became a minority owner of the team was that his addition would have an impact on the overall team culture. Brady was a seven-time champion and arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, while the Raiders last won a title all the way back in 1983 and have just one playoff appearance in the last eight years.

The Raiders don't need Brady to be a daily presence. They just need his addition to have an organization-wide impact on how they conduct their business and approach building out a contender. The fact that Brady recognizes his presence could have a negative impact if too constant is a good sign in that regard.
