PGA Championship Announces $19M Prize Money Purse, $3.4M for Winner of 2025 Major

PGA of America officials unveiled the full prize money purse for the 2025 PGA Championship.

The overall purse for the major increased to $19 million, while the winner will be taking home $3.42 million.

The 2024 competition featured an $18.5 million purse, while champion Xander Schauffele took home $3.33 million.

The 2025 runner-up will receive $2.052 million and the No. 3 finisher is set to earn $1.292 million (h/t NBC Sports).

Jhonattan Vegas sat atop the leaderboard through two rounds at Quail Hollow Club, holding a two-shot advantage over the rest of the field.

Scottie Scheffler sat just three strokes back entering the weekend, though.

"I like the position I'm in going into the weekend," Scheffler said, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). "Obviously, I wish I was a little bit further up the leaderboard. I think I got a lot out of my game the last couple days. I felt like, as the round went on, my swing continued to get better and I was able to hit some key shots down the stretch to give myself some opportunities."

As Vegas looks to hold on and Scheffler attempts to earn his third major victory, both players will be competing for the Wanamaker Trophy as well as $3.42 million.
