Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is first on the list at $60 million per year after inking a four-year, $240 million extension in new money last season, per Over the Cap. The contract includes an $80 million signing bonus.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes still owns the league's richest contract overall at $450 million over 10 years, per Over the Cap. Reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills is second both in total contract value ($330 million) and yearly value ($55 million).
Eleven quarterbacks now make $50 million or more per year.
One can guess that a few young quarterbacks now will surpass that mark in a few years, most notably Associated Press Rookie of the Year and Washington Commanders star Jayden Daniels.
As for Purdy, he joins the ranks after a successful stint as the 49ers' starter over the past two-plus seasons. He assumed QB1 duties after taking over for Jimmy Garoppolo late in the 2022 campaign and led the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game.
In 2023, the 49ers won the NFC with Purdy at the helm and nearly defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl before losing in overtime.
Last year was a tough one for the 49ers as injuries took their toll, but San Francisco is looking to bounce back strong with Purdy back under center with a new deal in tow.
