Jake Paul 'Super Interested' in Cruiserweight Title Fight vs. Badou Jack
Jake Paul has added Badou Jack to the list of boxers he would like to step in the ring with.
Speaking to TMZ Sports about Jack offering him a shot at the WBC cruiserweight title, Paul said he is "super interested" in the bout.
"I'm super interested," Paul explained. "I had Nakisa [Bidarian] contact his team behind the scenes, so those discussions are happening."
During a press conference earlier this month to promote his May 3 fight with Noel Mikaelian, Jack told reporters he would have no problem with Paul if the two were to square off.
"It's an easy fight and it's a money fight," Jack said. "So, why not?"
Paul has made a great career out of either calling out or getting called out by boxers and mixed martial artists, then not fighting many of them for whatever reason.
In the aftermath of his victory over Mike Tyson on Nov. 15, Artur Beterbiev and Canelo Álvarez put themselves on Paul's radar. The bout with Canelo was reportedly in the works for May 3 before Álvarez backed out to sign a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season and Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority.
Paul pivoted to a bout with Julio César Chávez Jr. that will take place on June 28. Chávez has only fought once since 2022, defeating former mixed martial artist Uriah Hall on the undercard of the Paul-Mike Perry event on July 20, 2024.
Jack defeated Mikaelian via majority decision to retain the WBC cruiserweight title. The Ripper has won seven consecutive bouts and owns a 29-3-3 record in 35 career fights.
