Jey Uso Beats Logan Paul, Retains WWE World Title at SNME as Cena, Rhodes Interfere
Jey Uso defeated Logan Paul at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in Tampa, Florida, to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
The match was wild, thrilling and packed with surprises.
Just when it seemed all hope was lost after John Cena stormed in and unleashed a brutal assault on Uso, the tide turned.
Making his triumphant return for the first time since WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes rushed to Uso’s rescue—setting him up perfectly for a frog splash on Paul and sealing the victory.
Rhodes teased the end of the “John Cena Tour” as he laid the groundwork for a high-stakes Money in the Bank showdown—announcing a match between himself and Cena, with Jey Uso backing Rhodes and Paul standing firmly in Cena’s corner.
At WrestleMania 41, Jey completed his long and challenging road to the world title by beating Gunther, while Paul scored one of the biggest victories of his career when he took down former world champion AJ Styles.
On the April 28 episode of Raw, Paul confronted Uso and announced his intention to beat Jey for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Despite still being relatively new to pro wrestling, Paul claimed that he had essentially done it all besides holding a world title, which is why he planned to take it from Jey.
In response to Jey agreeing to give Paul a future title shot, The Maverick said he has achieved more in four years than Uso did in 15 years, and he vowed to make Jey drop the world title more quickly than he did the Intercontinental Championship, which he held for only 27 days.
Uso ended the segment by taking Paul out with a superkick, which clearly didn't sit well with the YouTube sensation.
The following week on Raw, Uso agreed to a title match against Seth Rollins. The bout ended up being a no contest due to a ton of interference from the likes of Bron Breakker, Sami Zayn and CM Punk.
Jey retained his title as a result, but while he was celebrating with fans, Paul emerged from the crowd and knocked Uso out with a devastating punch.
That added even more heat to their rivalry and perfectly set the stage for their World Heavyweight Championship clash at Saturday Night's Main Event.
While Paul acquitted himself well and showcased some world title potential, Jey prevailed and kept his reign rolling.
