Steelers to Wear New Throwback Uniforms, Helmet vs. Packers on SNF in Week 8 Schedule
Amid the excitement in Pittsburgh for the Steelers' 2025 schedule release, team president Art Rooney II revealed they will also be using a new throwback uniform combination for one game.
Rooney told Bob Labriola of Steelers.com the club will use its new throwback uniform and helmet combination for their Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football:
"We are going to have a new throwback uniform this year, and with a new helmet to go with it. We're planning to wear our new throwbacks for the Packers game on Sunday night, Oct. 26. It'll be fun to wear our throwbacks against one of the older franchises in the league—that just seems to be appropriate. We'll be doing our color rush uniforms late in the year. I think we're going to do it for the Monday night game on Dec. 15 against the Miami Dolphins."

Details about the uniform and helmet are being kept under wraps at this point. They have been using the 1970s-inspired jerseys since the 2018 season.
Last season, the Steelers brought back their 1974 look to wear during their Week 7 game against the New York Jets, honoring the 50th anniversary of the team that won Super Bowl IX.
From 2012 to 2017, the Steelers used their polarizing bumblebee jersey as their throwback look.
Rooney's announcement comes after the NFL announced changes to the uniform rules for the 2025 season back in March.
Under the new rules, teams are allowed to wear alternate of throwback uniforms four times and alternate helmets can be used with more than one jersey. The previous rules allowed for a maximum of three alternate/throwback uniforms and up to three different helmets.
The Sunday Night Football Game against the Packers is one of four primetime games for the Steelers this season. It's an interesting matchup for a standalone window because it could suggest the NFL is expecting Aaron Rodgers to be facing his former team.
There's speculation that the NFL scheduling the Steelers-New York Jets game in Week 1 at MetLife Stadium indicates the league anticipates Rodgers will be wearing black and yellow this season.
Until Rodgers signs, though, the Steelers are set to go into the 2025 season with Mason Rudolph as their starting quarterback. If that ends up being the case, their new throwback uniform and helmet combination might the most exciting thing that happens to them this year.
