Preakness Odds 2025, Updated Lines and Favorites After Post Positions Draw
The second leg of the 2025 Triple Crown features the same favorite as the first leg.
Journalism, who took second to Sovereignty at the Kentucky Derby, is the current favorite to win the 2025 Preakness Stakes on Saturday.
Journalism is one of three Derby horses in the nine-horse field.
However, Sovereignty is not entered in the race. The team behind the Derby winner opted it was in the horse's best interest to skip the Preakness.
Journalism opened as an 8-5 favorite after Monday's Preakness post draw.
Journalism drew Post No. 2 at Pimlico Race Course. He should be the favorite all the way up to post time. He was the best horse in the buildup to the Kentucky Derby and finished second in the opening leg of the Triple Crown.
Sandman and American Promise are the other two Derby participants in the Preakness field.
Sandman took seventh at Churchill Downs, while American Promise finished in 16th.
River Thames is currently the second favorite to win the Preakness. The three-year-old was not entered in the Derby, but it did take second behind Sovereignty in March at the Fountain of Youth Stakes.
River Thames owns four consecutive top-three finishes, including a third-place mark at the Blue Grass Stakes behind Derby participant Burnham Square in early April.
Clever Again and Goal Oriented are the two other horses listed below 10-1 on the morning line.
