Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Despite the criticism Sanders has faced since the draft, he is distancing himself from the drama and showing support for his fellow rookies. On Saturday, Sanders acknowledged that much of the "hatred" directed at him is due to his father, Deion Sanders.
"Ninety-nine percent of hatred is towards Pops," Sanders told reporters. "I'm just his son, so it really just comes from that and I told him that, too. ... It's the older generation that do it to me rather than the younger people because when I come in person, there's no negativity I see but it's all over online."
Sanders has notably been competing against fellow 2025 draft pick Dillon Gabriel for a quarterback roster spot, though both players have consistently shown mutual respect throughout the process.
When asked Sunday about how he felt handling the media coverage surrounding the Browns drafting Sanders just one round after selecting him, Gabriel was all for it.
"I love it," Gabriel replied. "You know, I love it because of who it is. I think just for us both, you can learn from one another. But also, it’s not just us two in the room. At least for now [during rookie minicamp] it is, but, you know, going into the year, Kenny, Joe and even Deshaun [Watson], just a bunch of guys who played a bunch of ball that we can all learn from one another."
Sanders also had high praise for fellow rookie quarterback.
"He's a really cool guy, overall. He's always in a good mood, but overall, I can tell he's a pretty good person," Sanders said of Gabriel.
The rookie minicamp wrapped up Sunday with both quarterbacks taking significant snaps as they ramp up preparations for the upcoming season.
