Maple Leafs' Anthony Stolarz 'Progressing' After Concussion vs. Panthers, Berube Says

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a positive update about goaltender Anthony Stolarz.

Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said on Saturday that the 31-year-old is "progressing" but also that he has not begun skating yet.

"He's progressing in the right direction," Berube said, per Kristen Shilton of ESPN. "But he has not skated yet [since getting hurt]."

Shilton noted Stolarz "doesn't appear close to a return."

Stolarz suffered a concussion in the Maple Leafs' Game 1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday. He notably took a shot off of the mask and also an elbow to the head from Panthers forward Sam Bennett in the second period of that game.

He would go to the bench and left the game following the Bennett hit. Joseph Woll took over in net and has played Games 2 and 3 of the second round series.

Stolarz was a major reason why the Maple Leafs won the Atlantic Division in 2024-25. He went 21-8-3 with a 2.16 goals against average and a staggering .926 save percentage in the regular season and forms an excellent tandem in net with Woll.

Berube turned to Stolarz in the playoffs and he went 4-2 with a 2.19 goals against average in the Leafs first round series against the Ottawa Senators.

His return will not be imminent for Toronto and the team will likely need to stick with Woll against the Panthers. The Maple Leafs currently lead the series 2-1 but fell in overtime in Game 3 on Friday night.

Toronto can take control of the series in Game 4 and head back to Toronto with an opportunity to clinch. That game is set for Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
